Mt Hutt Aviation has officially opened its new Rangiora based aviation maintenance hub. In recognition of the strength and growth of aviation in the North Canterbury region, Mt Hutt Aviation has expanded its Mid-Canterbury operations to a second facility based at Rangiora Airfield.
In a first for the Rangiora Airfield, Mt Hutt Aviation’s new hub facility will offer Mechanical and Avionics Maintenance, Aircraft Sales and Leasing, Parts and Component Sales and Sourcing services for helicopters, fixed-wing, and microlight aircraft.
“With Rangiora Airfield now seeing 40,000+ movements a year, our expansion to Rangiora was required to best serve our ever-expanding customer base” says Andrew Duff, Rangiora Base Manager, Mt Hutt Aviation.
“Previously our fixed wing and microlight customers were serviced by our mobile unit, our new base allows us to take on larger and more complex work” Mr Duff Continues “I grew up spending time on the Rangiora airfield, and have seen it grow from only a few buildings to what it is today, and look forward to the future of this new venture”
Work has already begun on the manufacture of two light-sport aircraft as part of a Joint-venture between Just Aircraft NZ and Mt Hutt Aviation. Having mechanical and avionics services available in house allows Mt Hutt to provide a full start to finish service.
“We found ourselves in need of local build support for our imported aircraft kits, teaming up with Mt Hutt Aviation has given us certainty and continuity in the production of our aircraft”, John Hood, Just Aircraft NZ
Mt Hutt Aviation holds many global manufacturer and supplier dealerships, most notably Garmin Australasia. Mt Hutt’s large stock buying power allows them to hold high lead time parts, caused by the ongoing impacts of covid-19. Allowing most projects to start without delay.
February this year Mt Hutt Aviation was appointed New Zealand’s sole Rolls-Royce accredited M250-RR300 turbine engine component supplier, through a partnership with Asia Pacific Aerospace – Australia.
“Having components in-country is key to our strategic plan of minimising aircraft-on-ground time for customers who are working time sensitive, or emergency service contracts”
